  1. Both sides are allowed to state their opinion. Debate may or may not follow, but you can still state your disagreement with someone’s post. “I’d rather not debate” vs “I want you to shut the hell up” are two different things, and are often confused.

  2. Even if you don’t end up debating with the person making the comment, we’ve seen how the discussion might bring in other interested parties on both sides. Nobody should ever be suppressed, but also, nobody should be forced to respond.
